A FINE PAIR OF TWIN DECKS Hertforshire Police fleet Services were looking for a solution to replacing a Ford Cargo Car Transporter for collection and delivery of its fleet of vehicles from various locations for servicing and repairs. They contacted Recoveryvehicles.com to enquire about 3.5 Tonne transporters but it soon became apparent that with some of the vehicles in their fleet weighed up to 2,700 Kgs. Mike Saward suggested the best solution to this was a 7.5 tonne chassis fitted with a Twindeck. The heaviest vehicle could be carried with the top deck lowered and for normal use they would be able to carry a car up to 1,640 Kgs on the top deck and still leave a payload of 2,000 Kgs on the bottom deck. After several trips to the weighbridge with a demonstrator ,loading and unloading vehicles and checking the weights it was agreed that this was the best solution to the problem. Both vehicle were individually designed and manufactured.The two Isuzu 7.5 Tonne Forward Twindecks met the exact specification. Mike Saward managed the project from start to finish making several visits to the factory with the customer ensuring first time customer satisfaction.The finished vehicle weighed 3,860 Kgs giving a payload of 3,640 Kgs.
